Springbank 25 Year Old 2021
Springbank 25 Year Old 2021 release has been composed from 70% sherry casks, 15% bourbon casks and 15% rum casks and is limited to only 1,400 bottles worldwide.
Springbank distillery has been owned and operated by the Mitchell family in Campbeltown since 1837, and it one of Scotland’s most revered distilleries. Following a brief mothballing between 1979 and 1987, upon the reopening the decision was taken to cease all sales to the blending industry and focus on its single malt sales.
Official Tasting Notes Springbank 25 Year Old
Nose – Initially rhubarb, tropical fruits, golden syrup, shortbread. Then coconut shavings, barbecued meats and sugar cane.
Palate –  Almonds, pecan pie, butterscotch. Peat starts building alongside cigar box and old library notes. Very typical of a mature Springbank; salty, earthy and briny.
Finish –  Refined with a hint of peat smoke. Dunnage warehouse; earthy, bung cloth. Fruit notes develop with hints of molasses and sweet Prosciutto ham.
Springbank is one of only two distilleries in Scotland to perform every step in the whisky making process, from malting the barley to bottling the spirit, on same premises: the other is Kilchoman Distillery who also grow their own barley.
Springbank Single Malt is the most popular variety, Longrow Single Malt is a highly-peated, double-distilled whisky and Hazelburn Single Malt, the newest variety.
